Excerpt 5: Ding Zilin's "In Search of Victims of June Fourth"

Ding Zilin, the founder and leader of the Tiananmen Mothers wrote a book in 2005 about the victims of the Tiananmen Massacre. Over the course of the next two weeks, we will be releasing excerpts from the book in English.
Pg. 145- False Testimony

            Yang Yansheng was born on February 27th, 1959, and died on June 4th, 1989 at the age of 30. He was employed in the China Sports News editorial office’s IT room.

            A little after five o’clock in the morning on June 4th, Yang Yansheng was fast asleep when he suddenly heard a knock on his door: “Yansheng, Yansheng, they’re shooting people out here!” Yang immediately set out on his bike, cursing the “fascists.” Recounting that morning, Yang’s wife Huang Jinping told me: “I never imagined that would be our final farewell…”
